ACCESS Testing (Grades 11 & 12)

Every year, Lake Park High School is required to administer the ACCESS for ELLs assessment for all students who are considered English Language Learners (ELLs) as defined by the state of Illinois.Parents/Guardians should have received communications if their student(s) is considered an English Language Learner. Lancers may or may not be receiving direct English Language Services; however, students are still required to complete this assessment.The testing session will take place on Wednesday, January 17 at East Campus and Thursday, January 25 at West Campus. Students will be excused from their classes, eat lunch during 4th or 5th hour, and resume testing during periods 5, 6, 7, and 8. If students finish testing, they will return to their classes. If your student is not in attendance on January 17 at East or January 25 at West, then your student will make up the test on a different date.Transportation information will be communicated directly to your student(s).

FAFSA Completion Night

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will host this workshop to assist families with completing either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application). These are the forms used to apply for financial aid, such as the Federal Pell Grant and/or the Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP). Many colleges also use these forms to consider students for institutional money. *Individuals must create an FSA ID at least three business days prior to the workshop to be able to start the FAFSA.* Students and parents use their FSA ID to provide approval for the transfer of tax and income information from the IRS to the FAFSA. Please note that the FSA ID is not used with the Alternative Application.
Individuals should also have the following information accessible to complete the FAFSA:2022 federal tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned
Banking statements and records of investment (if applicable)
Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
List of colleges the student is applying to

Lake Park High School’s Film Appreciation Society is offering its spring semester presentation on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 PM at the Lake Park High School West Campus Auditorium, located at 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Roselle. Admission to the event is free. The featured film is the 1948 film noir thriller, Key Largo, directed by John Huston and starring the famed screen duo of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, with Edward G. Robinson in an iconic gangster role. Tension rises in this hostage drama while a looming hurricane threatens. The film’s original tagline says it all: A storm of fear and fury in the sizzling Florida Keys! The run time of the film is 1 hour, 40 minutes.

Annual Rose Ambassador Scholarship Event

The Annual Rose Ambassador Scholarship Event will be held on Friday, February 9, at the Lake Park High School West Campus Auditorium, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the Rose Ambassador Scholarship Event is to offer local high school students an annual opportunity to compete for college scholarships totaling over $5,000. The event consists of judging in six areas: application and essay, personal interview, casualwear, talent, formalwear, and Q&A. Contestants must be high school students and either live in Roselle or be a student at Lake Park High School.

Winter Joust

Lake Park High School’s Winter Guard will take center stage when the Midwest Color Guard Circuit hosts the Winter Joust at West Campus. The competition begins on Saturday, February 10 at 3:20 p.m. with awards to follow. The show will feature 24 winter guard units from Illinois and Indiana with Lake Park performing at approximately 6:40 p.m. See the entire performance schedule here.
Winter Guard, called the Sport of the Arts is an indoor version of Color Guard that brings music to life through the use of set design, costuming, flags, sabers, rifles, and other equipment as well as dance, interpretive movement, and acting.
The entire performance schedule for the Winter Joust is available on the Midwest Color Guard Circuit website at www.midwestcolorguard.com. Tickets are $14 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children under the age of 5.

Kicking Cancer: St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser

Lake Park High School and the Roselle Police Department will be hosting a Kicking Cancer Kick Ball Tournament and Head Shaving Event to raise money for kids with cancer. This event is open to students, families, and members of the community. The entry fee will be a $5 dollar donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.You’ll be giving hope to thousands of kids diagnosed with cancer every day – from babies and toddlers to children, teens, and young adults. In fact, you’ll be saving lives!Our event will speed the search for cures through St. Baldrick’s, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants.You can accelerate the next 25 years of cures for kids with cancer!

Class of 2028 Lancer families are invited to Lake Park High School’s Incoming Freshman Orientation Program that will take place the evening of Wednesday, April 24. The program, intended for parents/guardians only, begins in the East Campus Dice Auditorium at 6:15 p.m. and will conclude at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. This event is an opportunity to share information about the excellent resources that are available to our Lancer families. Guests will be able to attend breakout sessions on various topics.
